Friseure Adler & Herz in Nuremberg uses the OrderRight till with appointment booking and its own web shop. We supported the salon in setting up its till system before opening: services, prices, durations, staff and opening hours were all in place on the first day.

Company history

Friseure Adler & Herz is a hair salon in Nuremberg that works by appointment. The salon sits behind a glass front facing the street, and inside the styling chairs stand along the mirror wall on a black and white chequerboard floor.

As a brand new business, it had no established routines to carry over. The till, the services and the appointment calendar all had to be ready for the first day of trading.

The problem: appointments on paper cost time

Every service in a salon has a duration and a stylist: a men's haircut takes 30 minutes, colouring considerably longer. A paper appointment book only maps that with manual work.

The result is double bookings, callbacks and notes with phone numbers. On top of that, there is no analysis of which services and which times actually carry the revenue.

Set up together: services, staff and opening hours

Before opening we set the business up together with the salon: a men's haircut for €34 in 30 minutes, a clipper cut for €22 in 20 minutes, a children's haircut up to the age of 13 and colouring – every service with its price and duration.

Staff, opening hours and breaks were added as well. Because the till and the web shop use the same data, the salon maintains its services in one place only. We also went through the daily closing and the cash book together before the first day of trading.

Guests book their appointments online

In the salon's own booking shop, guests pick their service and a free slot and enter their details in three steps. Price and duration are shown, and no phone call is needed – outside opening hours as well.

Only slots that are genuinely free in the salon are shown, because opening hours, staff and existing appointments are taken into account. For appointments through their own shop, the salon pays no commission to a platform.

Appointments and sales come together in one till

In the till the day is laid out as a column per staff member. Every reservation shows the service, the time, the phone number and the email address – whether it was booked online or taken over the phone.

At the end of the appointment the reservation becomes the sale: the till takes the booked services onto the receipt, with nothing retyped. The revenue lands in the cash book and the daily closing works like in any other OrderRight till.
